Metal-Drawer Stand (Scroll Down for Images)
I'm always on the lookout for sets of small drawers for my ever growing
collection of hardware and electronic components. Officeworks were clearing
some out for 1/2 price (as seen in the second photo). I purchased two.
I needed a stand for them so I wouldn't have to bend over too far to reach the
bottom drawers. "Make them out of timber and knock them up in an afternoon"
I remember saying to myself. Nearly two weeks later I finished them. I doweled
the joints as I dislike visible screw or nail holes even when covered with wood
filler. So no filler was used on the project at all. I had to make a jig to do
this(as shown in the photos). This all took considerably longer than I
originally envisaged. The top of the stand is covered in 3mm rubber sheet to
stop the drawers from moving around, as are the tops of the two sets of
drawers plus the addition of a single sheet of Masonite so I can place things
on them. |
