Conduit Covers (Scroll Down for Images)
Another job that was long overdue was to craft a couple of conduit covers.
The conduit sports data cable from the house to the shed. I had sourced some
sheet metal for the floodlight covers and had quite a bit left over. I was also
starting to feel pretty good about my newly acquired sheet metal skills.
The covers were reasonably challenging to produce as I have very limited tools
for working with sheet metal. The larger cover just fitted in the bender, so a
bit of luck on that front. The bender did handle the large folds, although the
photos show that I used extra clamps where I could. Bunnings finally got
involved in the project by way of supplying paint and rivets. The two conduit
and floodlight covers cost over $60 to paint – including etch primer, plus a
$10 packet of rivets ensured that Bunnings again got the lions share of the
hardware budget for this project. The aluminium on the other hand cost just
over $20. |
