4G Antennas
(Scroll Down for Images)

My wife and I were heading to Portland Victoria for a week away. We stayed on a farm 15Kms from the town center over looking the ocean. I like getting away as much as anybody but perish the thought of staying anywhere without Internet access. The house we stayed in did not have it, so we would have to rely on "a mobile service". We have a 4G mobile router, a fantastic device and it works really well.

My concern was that we were so far from the radio towers we would not get a service. With this in mind I decided to build some antennas to improve our chances of good reception. 4G utilises MiMo (multi in multi out) technology and requires two antennas. The location at which we stayed, the 4G service operates on two frequencies, so I had to build four antennas, two for each as the antennas are designed specifically for a given frequency. The hard part was to source the copper and connectors. This stuff is increasingly difficult to find in Australia.
