Welding Bench

Yet another project that I had been planning to make for most of my adult life: a welding bench. With limited space and the high cost of obtaining steel plate cut to size, I opted for a small portable bench 600mm x 600mm. The middle frame is made from an old Wok Burner Stand I fabricated many years ago, it was used for making beer. Another Shed hobby I gave away long ago.

The top is made from 2 pieces of 600mm x 300mm x 8mm hot rolled flat bar stock, and bolted onto the frame. I did this as welding it would have distorted and warped it. It's painted in epoxy enamel, Machine Grey of course! The bench is a great size and is one of the most utilised tools in the shed.
