Sheet Metal Bender
(Scroll Down for Images)

I'd been thinking of making some sort of sheet metal bender off and on for 25 years. I finally bit the bullet as I wanted to make a bracket for my Canon DSLR and did not want it to look like Homer Simpson was on the job. i.e No more bending metal in the vice with a hammer and a block of wood. So I headed out to the shed to see if I had any suitable material to knock up some sort of folder. It took me two hours of scheming, planning and wading through my steel off-cuts to come up with a design. I wanted it as big as possible given what steel I had on hand. I did not want to have to drive anywhere to purchase anything for this project, although I wound up doing so the next day as I needed countersunk cap head screws to finish it off. I have used it for a few projects and it has proven to be a very handy tool to have in the shed.
