Floodlight Cover

I decided to replace the old incandescent floodlight and PIR movement sensor above the side door on the shed. The old ones had all but rotted away under the hot Australian sun as they were not under any cover. The side of the shed does not have eaves so the existing light and sensor were fastened to the wall. The obvious solution was to fabricate a cover to offer some protection from the weather and UV rays. After another of my many trips to Bunnings I returned with a new LED floodlight and PIR sensor. Another trip to the local aluminium supplier where I sourced a sheet of 2mm thick aluminium. All I had to do was to cut the sheet, clean up and radius some of the edges and drill some holes. I decided to make a backing board to mount the PIR and light, thinking it would save me the effort of drilling too many holes into the brickwork, which are 50+ years old and are as hard as steel. I cut the aluminium with my angle grinder which was fitted with a tungsten carbide tipped blade. A very messy process but worked well. The last thing to do was to fold the aluminium in my recently home built bender and fit it all together, and paint it of course.
