Steel Spider

My wife gave me a TIG welder for Christmas, what a present? I had wanted one for many many years and was very keen to get started with it. My wife also requested that I make her some artwork as some form of recompense for this fantastic new tool. After a couple of weeks of mulling the idea over I came up with the spider. It was my second TIG welding project, and proved to be very challenging due to my lack of TIG welding experience. Welding 6 gauge self tapping screws was probably not the easiest place to start learning!
I persevered and managed to finish the spider ready for Christmas day 2020. I got the welder a month before Christmas.

The spider was blackened (blued) by heating it to approximately 400 degrees Celsius and then dunking it in no-name brand cooking oil.

My new TIG welder is a Cigweld WeldSkill 205 AC/DC TIG W1008205.
